new birthday designs

new birthday designs

I know I've been missing in action this week and I apologize, but I promise it was for good reason. Here's a preview of the two new birthday party invitation designs that will launch early next week. The first is brand new and I loving call "down on the farm." Don't you just love the little pig in his mud puddle?! And I can't wait to share the creative table decor, goody box and cupcake wrappers. And the second, "princess castle," is an adaption of our "prince & princess" theme. This one has much more pink and yes, it is missing the fire breathing dragon! I'll post a big announcement as soon as they're a go. Wish us luck with the photo shoot this weekend; my weather man says it might rain... ... [Read More]

farm animal cakes

farm animal cakes

I'm really excited about the new farm birthday party theme that we've got in the works. I'm hoping to launch it on Monday, September 21, if the sun holds out for a nice photo shoot this weekend. {wink} In honor of our farm animal friends, I went in search of some fun cakes and I have to say Kara of Kara's Party Ideas had some of the cutest! For the pig she used pink frosting, pink malt balls, pink snowballs, pink necco's, junior mints, & M&M's. And Kara says the pig "did have a tail (string licorice tied in a not) but some little one got to it before this pic was taken :)..." For the sheep she used chocolate and vanilla frosting, marshmallows, coco puffs, junior mints (for the eyes), a malt ball (for the nose) and string licorice for the mouth. For the for the cow she ... simply pink party

simply pink party

Lindsey at the Pleated Poppy had a beautiful pink party for her little girl this summer. One of my personal favorites is the idea of adding height to your decor with non-helium balloons hung from the ceiling on clear fishing line. She combined hers with paper lanterns and embellished her chandelier with fun pink beads. And not only was the decor pink, so was the food. Check out this fun treat table! And wouldn't you know it, her fun ideas go perfectly with our simply pink invitation and decor {wink}.    Even if you're not planning a pink birthday party or baby shower, make sure and take a trip over to the Pleated Poppy and read her post. It's refreshingly honest on how sometimes all of our party planning can go awry and drive us crazy to eventually turn out fine in the end ... [Read More]

new goody gable boxes

new goody gable boxes

We've had several customer inquires about the zebra print shown in our photography with our fuchsia pink and black decor (divine, blossoms, bubbly) so we thought we would add a cool zebra print gable box to our collection. These boxes are wonderful not only for gifting, but also for displaying food or creating a centerpiece with flowers (vase inserted inside to keep the flowers fresh). And we're also adding a new red and white polka dot gable box for our movie night theme and for Christmas. It could even be fun for our pirate themes (pirate ship and pirate skull). Enjoy and keep the questions coming. If you want it we want to offer it! ... [Read More]

witch pretzels & frankentreats

witch pretzels & frankentreats

I have to admit I'm really getting in the mood for the spookiest holiday of the year!  This weekend my boys and I started practicing our Halloween decorating skills with a few ghastly treats, namely these witch-on-a-stick pretzels and frankentreats from Parenting Magazine's October 2008 issue. Witch-on-a-stick how to: Cut off the tops of pretzel rods and set aside. Melt one cup of white chocolate chips, 1 Tbs shortening and a few drops of green gel food coloring and stir until smooth. Dip the cut end of the pretzels into the chocolate, covering the top 2 inches. Place the sticks on wax paper and sprinkles the sides of each with coconut  flakes to form hair. Top each with a Hershey's Kiss and refrigerate until the chocolate has hardened. Draw on eyes, nose and mouth with ... [Read More]

DIY toss game

DIY toss game

And last but not least for our deep blue sea bash, we made a toss game to match our party theme. The great thing about this is you could change the shapes and fabric to match any kind of party theme. Here's what you'll need: 2 yards of coordinating fabric 3 pre-cut squares of coordinating felt plywood (or foam board if you don't have a saw handy) fabric glue staple gun And here are the super simple steps: Have the hardware store cut your board to size (3' x 4') and have someone handy with a saw to cut your circular holes. Cover the board with fabric using a staple gun. Next find the center of each hole, cut a small slit and then cut strips folding the fabric back to cover the hole sides and stapling them in place. Cut out a fish template from the felt and then a ... [Read More]

beach bash favors

beach bash favors

For my big guy's fifth birthday party, a deep blue sea bash at the local Splash Pad, we gave monogrammed beach towels sporting crabs, whales, seahorses, octopus and fish to all his little guests as fun favors. They're from Sew Jewell on Etsy and they were a big hit! The other idea I wanted to share before the recap was how we used a toy sand wagon to display our chips. Be creative, not everything has to be served on a platter! {grin} As always, I hope you're inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate! flip flop crispy pops

flip flop crispy pops

For our deep blue sea bash I also made flip flop rice crispy pops. I've mentioned before that my youngest has severe food allergies and these are a great non-dairy (and non-egg) treat, but you can make them the normal way too. They're really super simple to make and a great end of summer treat even if you're not having a party! Here's what you'll need: Rice crispy cereal Marshmallows Butter (Smart Balance Vegan for non-dairy) White cake icing Gel food coloring Resealable bags (2 per color you plan to use) Icing connectors, #4 and #103 Wilton tips (both easily found at craft stores) Candy decorations Wax paper Lollippop sticks Flip flop cookie cutter (available with our sleepover decor) Toothpicks Optional: Clear cello bags and ribbon And here are the ...
