I've hosted a weekly family movie night since my youngest son was old enough to sit still, which is about six years now. It's every Friday night and we all look forward to it each week by voting on our feature presentation. Good thing I like action movies, because I'm often overruled! {grin} Recently Kohl's invited me to share how we set our big night up in my house! Since this is not just a time to watch a movie together, but has almost become a celebration to kick-off the weekend, we save our sugar calories (or at least I do) for our family movie night! Hence the bar cart full of donuts, chocolate, popcorn, soda... all those things that you would find at a real theater (but for a fraction of the price mommas!). And what's also great, my way you can pause the movie if you need to ... [Read More]

Outdoor Movie Party Ideas
I've been wanting to host an outdoor movie night. Not necessarily a birthday party, but just a family and friends outdoor night before the fireflies stop blinking and the sun starts going down at 7... I'm a lover of all the seasons, but I truly miss summer when it's gone. This party and photography is from Lay Baby Lay. She hosted it for her little Vivi's second birthday party. You simply must hop over to her blog for tons of fun and creative ideas. My favorite element is the tent. She set up an individual tent per family, complete with paper fans, lights, blankets and pillows. So perfect. Want more outdoor movie night party ideas? Monsters University {playdate party}
So who's excited for tomorrow's premier of the new Disney Monsters University movie?! Dina of Deliciously Darling Events created this adorable playdate to celebrate. Here are the details in her words: My kiddos love animated movies. I’m actually not sure who loves these movies more, the kids or mama. We wanted to celebrate the upcoming Monsters University movie with a little MU Play Date. Inspired by The Celebrations Shoppe, Lynlee’s Petite Cakes & Laura’s Little Party instagram post, I decided to put together a sweet little dessert table for my kiddos play date. So why do a dessert table on a couch? Answer: Why not? I’ve always wanted to set up a dessert display on a couch. This couch is perfection – white & leather so it’s easy to clean post play date. I ... [Read More]
a movie is the ticket
Tweens and teens are the hardest to plan birthday parties for. They're too old for themes and they're too cool for anything organized. That said, everyone loves a good movie night. If you have a in-home theater, create a buffet of movie treats including popcorn, sodas and assorted chocolate bars and let them be. And if you don't, no worries. You can host pre-movie treats at your house and then shuttle the kids off to the theater, most even have private event facilities you can rent. Or, simply invite the girls over for a night in. All you'll need to do is add a cocktail bar to the movie treats buffett and you can call it a success. And don't you just love this cake?! It's from a 2005 Better Homes and Gardens "kid's parties" issue and I fell in love with it. My oldest was only one ... [Read More]
